Automated Backup
Do not perform automatic backup
This is the default option. When selected, SecurityGateway will not automatically backup the database or server configuration.
Automatically backup configuration data every [xx] day(s) at [xx:xx]
Choose this option if you wish to export/backup SecurityGateway's configuration, but not backup the entire database. Specify the number of days to wait between automatic exports and the exact time to do it. These files will be listed on the Restore page and have file names that begin with "Export".

When using this backup method, ONLY SecurityGateway's configuration and settings are backed up, including user and domain information, not the entire database. Consequently, if you restore the system from this type of backup file then all messages, session transcripts, reports, the message log, and so on will be lost—only the configuration and settings will be restored. |
Automatically backup entire database every [xx] day(s) at [xx:xx]
Choose this option if you wish to backup SecurityGateway's entire database, including your configuration and settings, the Message Log, and Reports. Specify the number of days to wait between automatic backups and the exact time to perform the backup. These files will be listed on the Restore page and have file names that begin with "Backup".

This option is not a complete backup of SecurityGateway Because message data, SMTP transcripts, attachments, log files and other files live in folders outside the database (see the Directories page), a complete backup of SecurityGateway requires more than the database backup options above. Store only [xx] backup file(s). The oldest backup file(s) will be deleted.
Click this checkbox if you wish to store only a certain number of backup files, and specify the number of files to store. When the maximum number of files is reached, the oldest file will be deleted whenever a new backup file is created. This option is disabled by default.
Send email alert to global administrators if scheduled backup fails
When checked, SecurityGateway emails all global administrators if a scheduled backup fails to complete — whether it's a configuration backup, an entire database backup, or an archive store backup. This option is enabled by default.
Automatically backup archive stores every [xx] day(s) at [xx:xx]
Choose this option if you wish to automatically backup your archive store databases on a schedule, separate from the database backup options above. Specify the number of days to wait between automatic backups and the exact time to perform them. These files will be listed on the Restore page, in the archive stores section, and are also saved under the \ArchiveStores subfolder of your configured Backup directory.
Only backup active archive stores
Check this box if you only want the automatic archive store backup to include archive stores that are currently active, skipping any that have been deactivated. This option is disabled by default, meaning all archive stores are backed up regardless of status.
Manual Backup
Click here to export all allowlist and blocklist entries to CSV file
Click this link to download a single CSV file containing every entry from all of your Allowlists and Blocklists (addresses, hosts, and IPs). Unlike the other options on this page, this is an exported file, downloading directly to the folder specified in your browser; it is not added to the Restore page's list of backup files.

Click this link to manually export SecurityGateway's configuration. This backup method is functionally identical to the "Automatically backup configuration data..." option above. It is simply initiated manually instead of automatically and is in addition to any scheduled automatic backups.

It is simply initiated manually instead of automatically and is in addition to any scheduled automatic backups. As with the scheduled version, this is not a complete backup of SecurityGateway. Click this link to manually backup your archive store databases. This backup method is functionally identical to the "Automatically backup archive stores..." option above. It is simply initiated manually instead of automatically, and is in addition to any scheduled automatic backups. Like the scheduled version, this respects the "Only backup active archive stores" option under that setting.
