Compose Options

This page gives you control over varies settings related to composing messages and the appearance of the Compose page.

Spell Check

Spell check email before sending

If you want to check for spelling errors automatically before sending messages, set this option to "Yes" (in the WorldClient theme, click the checkbox). Messages will be spell checked after you click Send on the Compose page. If an error is found then the message will be opened in a spell check page for correction. If there is no error then the message will be sent immediately.

Spell Check Ignore All Caps

Choose "Yes" or click the checkbox if you want the spell checker to ignore words containing all capital letters.

For example:

"WORLDCLIENT" would be skipped but "WorldClient" would be checked.

Spell Check Ignore Mixed Digits

Choose "Yes" or click the checkbox if you want the spell checker to ignore words that contain a combination of both letters and numbers.

Dictionary

When spell checking messages these words will not be treated as misspelled. To add words to the dictionary, type them into the box. You can separate words by commas or semicolons, or you can type one word per line. When you are finished added words, click Save on the toolbar at the top of the page.

For more information on spell checking, see: Spell Checking Email Messages.

Compose Options

Default From address

Use the drop-down list to choose the default email address or alias that you wish to use as the From address of your messages.

Default Reply-To address

If you wish to set a default Reply-To email address for your messages, type the address here. Whenever a recipient of one of your messages clicks Reply, this is the address to which the reply message will go. When this option is used, the Advanced Compose controls will be displayed by default in Lite, Mobile, and LookOut, and the Reply-To header will be shown in the WorldClient theme.

Save Sent Messages

Click this checkbox if you would like Webmail to automatically place a copy of your outgoing message into your Sent folder.

Advanced Compose

This controls whether or not your Compose page will display the Advanced controls by default. Some of these controls will operate differently in the LookOut theme than in other themes.  The LookOut theme already displays the Carbon Copy ("CC") field by default.

Warn on Blank Subject

Choose "No" for this option if you do not wish to be warned if you try to send a message that has a blank Subject line. By default this option is set to "Yes".

Warn on Missing Attachments

Before sending a message, check for any mention of attachments in the subject or body of the message and warn if there are no files attached.

HTML Compose

Check this box if you wish to allow text formatting when composing messages. A set of tools will appear above the text area on the Compose page, which will allow you to choose fonts, text size, colors, paragraph formatting, and more. If you disable this option then your messages will be sent in plain-text format.

Default HTML Compose Font

This is the font that will be used in the HTML compose editor when no other font is specified. This option has no effect when the HTML Compose option above is unchecked.

Default HTML Compose Font Size

This is the font size that will be used in the HTML compose editor when no other size is specified. This option has no effect when the HTML Compose option above is unchecked.

Compose Font Size

This is the font size that will be displayed in the compose editor for plain text messages. In the Lookout and WorldClient themes this option will only be shown when the HTML Compose option above is off.

Replying and Forwarding

The options in this section determine how the original text of a message will be handled when replying to or forwarding a message.

Attribution of original message

Choose the desired option to use for the attribution of the original message when replying to or forwarding a message.

None - No attribution will be included when replying to or forwarding messages.

Include From, Date, To, and Subject lines from original message - The listed original message headers will be included in the message body when replying or forwarding.

Custom format - Use this option if you wish to customize the content of the attribution used in replies and forwarded messages. This option by default is set to: "On %SENTDATEANDTIME%, %SENDER% wrote:". "%SENTDATEANDTIME%" and "%SENDER%" are required macros that will be replaced with the date/time the original message was sent and the sender of the message, respectively. For example, by default this option would create an attribution that looks like this: "On Tue, 19 April 2018 18:01:03 -0500, "Frank Thomas" <frank.thomas@company.test> wrote:". NOTE: If either macro is omitted from your custom attribution, Webmail will instead use the "Include From, Date, To, and Subject lines..." option above.

When replying to a message

Use the drop-down list to choose how to format the original message's text when replying to messages. You have the following options:

Do not include original message - Choose this option if you do not wish to include the original message's content in your reply.

Attach original message - This option includes the original message as a file attachment rather than include its text in the message body.

Include original message text - Choose this option if you wish to include the original message body unchanged in your reply (without indenting it or prefixing each line).

Include and indent original message text - This option includes the original message body in your reply, but indents it.

Prefix each line of the original message - This is the default option. The original message body will be included with a solid vertical bar on its left.

When forwarding a message

Use the drop-down box to choose how to format the original message's text when forwarding messages. You have the following options:

Attach original message - This option includes the original message as a file attachment rather than include its text in the message body.

Include original message text - Choose this option if you wish to include the original message body unchanged in the forwarded message (without indenting it or prefixing each line).

Include and indent original message text - This option includes the original message body in the forwarded message, but indents it.

Prefix each line of the original message - This is the default option. The original message body will be included with a solid vertical bar on its left.

Prefix each line in a plain-text message with

When you have selected either of the "Prefix each line of the original message" options and the Compose page is set to send messages in plain-text format (see the HTML Compose option above), Webmail will prefix each line of the original text with the characters designated here. The designated prefix can be up to four characters long and a space will be added after it in your message.
